As long as we are tied into (dependant on) the infrastructure of civilization, we are to some extent controlled by its various organizational and power forces. This can be both positive and/or negative. Positive in the sense that civilization provides us with vital collective resources such as medical care, transportation, sanitatation, inspected food, ect. In a negative sense it exposes us to the controlling forces of political propaganda, biased social and economic competition, etc.
